(About)
Every face isa whole library.

Andika Barrera is a portrait photographer from Probolinggo, East Java, whose current work centres on tokoh Muslim — the kiai, habaib and scholars who shape Muslim life in Indonesia and beyond.
Raised between the sea and the volcanoes of the Tengger range, Andika learned early that the most important people in a town are rarely the loudest. His sittings are unhurried and made with consent: a conversation first, then tea, and only then the camera. He works with available light wherever possible — a doorway, a prayer-hall window — so that the place speaks alongside the person.
Every portrait is shared with its sitter before it is shown anywhere else. Prints are produced in small editions on archival cotton rag, and the studio accepts a limited number of editorial and institutional commissions each year.
